*inorderto:为了.后面加动词原型,for有时候也有为了的意思,后面要加名词或者动名词.

*raiseyourincome:提高你的收入.greyincome就是灰色收入.

*halfthetruth:truth这里翻真理不好,最好用真相.翻译的时候要有中文的功底.这需要平时多多的积累.以后"一半真相",你就可以用halfthetruth.

*whattheyreallymean做主语.what句的意思是:父母的意思是让你收到足够的教育,成为社会上有用的人才,而不是在社会中因为你受的教育不够而处于尴尬的境地.眼睛盯着embarrassment,3秒钟记住这个单词,我是这样记住的,主要是中间arrass比较难记,我就想象有一个叫arr的人撅着ass,不尴尬才怪.你记住了吗?

*highschool:中学,和美国人讲中学,最好用这个词.

*atleast:至少,那么至多就是atmost

*occupationally:金山词霸还没有收进这个词,每天英语有好多单词产生,又有好多单词死去.这种现象中文就好多了.这个词是"工作上"的意思.如果连一个中学文凭都没有,你在工作上就会寸步难行.除非你是georgebernardshaworthomasalvaedison,前者后来成为英国大文豪,鲁迅曾经和他同饮下午茶.后者是大发明家,你现在能使用computer,有一半的功劳要归功于爱迪生.他们2个受的教育都不多,但是你有像他们这样聪明吗?peter:你和我都是普通的人,所以要勤奋才对.

*gradeschool:相当于我国义务制学校.
