朱绍文先生一再要求他的弟子们:要反复阅读马克思《资本论》的原著,以便真正领会和把握马克思的科学思想;他还多次强调:亚当•斯密有关生产劳动的学说,才真正指明了增加“国民财富”的道路,生产劳动是“国民财富”的真正最终源泉。对亚当•斯密和马克思的这种高度推崇与对新古典经济学的尖锐批评在他那里形成了极为鲜明的对照。这就表明,朱绍文先生推崇的是亚当•斯密和马克思的那些不同于新古典经济学的思想学说,是“非新古典的古典经济学”。

按照当代的新自由主义经济学的说法,新古典经济学继承了亚当•斯密反对国家干预的经济自由主义传统。但是正象朱绍文先生反复强调的那样,斯密的经济自由主义有着与新古典经济学的自由主义截然不同的时代特征和阶级含义。斯密的重要不仅仅在于他在经济政策上是经济自由主义的首领,更在于他从理论上建立了古典经济学的思想体系,真正指出了现代资本主义市场经济形成的道路。而他建立的古典经济学的思想体系有着许多不同于新古典经济学的本质特征。斯密关于生产劳动的学说就是这些本质特征的一个最清楚的表现。

在当代的许多经济理论家看来,卡尔•马克思与亚当•斯密等人一样也属于古典经济学家之列。马克思的经济理论之所以被列入古典经济学,是因为它保持并发展了亚当•斯密所代表的一些重要的理论传统,这些理论传统成了古典经济学的主要特征。古典经济学的这些特征和传统之一就是它的阶级分析:它强调社会上各个阶级的经济作用和它们之间的利益冲突(Robinson and Eatwell, 1974,45页及第一篇第二章)。朱绍文先生推崇亚当•斯密和马克思而批判新古典经济学,实质上是推崇古典经济学中的那些不同于新古典经济学的理论学说,是强调和阐发那些非新古典的古典经济学科学命题。

在古典经济学的这些不同于新古典经济学的科学命题中,最重要的命题之一就是各阶级的经济作用与利益冲突在经济生活中的决定意义。古典经济学所划分的不同阶级首先是不同的生产要素的所有者:资本家阶级是资本的所有者,地主阶级是土地的所有者,工人阶级则是既无资本又无土地的单纯的劳动力所有者。古典经济学家们还依据在社会再生产过程中与资本的关系来对社会阶级进一步加以细分。亚当•斯密就是依据是否再生产出资本而区分了生产劳动和非生产劳动。对经济生活的阶级分析,是古典经济学不同于新古典经济学的一大特征。马克思将这种阶级分析进一步延伸到资本主义企业内部的生产领域,从而形成了马克思主义经济学的企业理论。它更是与新古典经济学完全对立的。本文就是在这个意义上使用“非新古典的古典经济学”这一概念的。
