(Restaurant ambience)
M:嗨,陈豪,how"s last night"s dinner? Everything OK?
The first thing is that your bread goes on your bread and butter plate.
Which one is my bread and butter plate?
M:It"s the one on your left above the forks。
M:Just remember: Bread and butter on the left; water or coffee on the right and meat goes in the middle.
C:What has BMW to do with eating bread?
C:BMW!
******
M:Yes, I noticed that too. Tear off a small piece, butter it if you like and eat it. Then tear off another piece and continue until you are satisfied or have eaten the whole thing。
C:That"s the way I saw Americans eat their bread last night.
M:So everything is clear?
M:No, the bread plate remains in its place. Just break the bread and butter it over the plate and let the crumbs fall where they may.
So the bread crumbs would fall into the bread plate。
M:That"s right. Now, let me sum up the main points: bread goes on your bread and butter plate which is on your left above the forks; to eat bread, don"t bite, but tear off a small piece, butter it if you like and eat it and continue until you are satisfied or have eaten the whole thing.

(Office ambience)
M: Hey, Chen Hao, what happened?
C: Someone ate my lunch!
M:Gone? Did you have your name on it?
C:Write your name on the box?
If you don"t have your name on it, 别人拿错是很有可能的呀!
I don"t think I"ll ever forget to put my name on my lunch.
Sometimes people bring their lunch, and later decide to go out to eat and forget about their food in the frig until it starts to smell.
I just have to throw them out.
I have to find some lunch.
M:See you later.
******
C:Hi, Mary, ready to go home? Can I walk with you?
M:Sure. By the way, did you find out who ate your lunch?
C:Oh, yes, I did. It was all a mistake.
But we do need to remind people to observe simple kitchen courtesies.
C:Simple kitchen courtesies?
For example, if you drink the last cup of coffee, you should fix a new pot for others.
I have to make a new pot and wait for a long time to get the coffee ready。
M: Also, it"s just good manners to clean up after yourself such as wiping off the counter and throwing away the trash.
Next time, I should pay more attention to it.
M:You also have to remember: keep the refrigerator clean -- put your name on your food and throw away any unwanted food; make a new pot of coffee when you drink the last cup. Throw away the trash, and clean the counter.
C:Thank you, Mary.

(Office ambience)
M:Hello, Human Resources Department, this is Mary.
C:Hi Mary. How would you like to go to lunch at the new Italian restaurant in our building? Sounds good?
M:Excuse me. Who"s this?
You really should identify yourself every time you call someone.
M:Not every one has the ability to recognize voices. Sometimes, there is background noise or a bad connection.
C:That"s right。
M:How did your friend react?
M:It would not have happened if you identify yourself first. (Telephone rings...) Hello, this is Mary.
******
C:Hi Mary.
M:You did the right thing.
M:What is it?
May I ask who is calling?" I"m sorry. Mr. Moore is in a meeting."
Mary, is there any time when I wouldn"t need to say who I am?
M:Well...If you call your girlfriend three or five times a day, I don"t think you need to identify yourself. Hi honey...", or "Hi sweetheart..."
I don"t even have a girlfriend.
M:Yes, I WAS kidding.
C:Mary,
M:It"s simple: always identify yourself when you call someone; step away when someone is on the phone; be aware that business phone calls should be formal and are different from private calls.
C:Thank you Mary!

(Office ambience, telephone rings....)
(CH"s Voice mail): "This is Chen Hao. Leave a message."
M:(After the beep). Hi Chen Hao. This is Mary. Please call me back when you have a minute.
M:(CH passing by Mary"s cubicle) Hey, Chen Hao. I"m looking for you.I just left a telephone message for you。
C:找我?
M:有事。But let me tell you first that your telephone greeting sounds too abrupt。
What"s wrong with:"I"m Chen Hao. Leave a message".
M:You know that other people will judge you by the greetings you recorded.
M:You should have offered a welcome like "Hello" first.
